You really should see my notebook. A list of 50 songs, many of them crossed out, a list of songs already used beside it. It's a mess! And we're only at #26b, the "cover" portion of today's Play it Again, Sam: Bauhaus' cover of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust." One of my all-time favorite bands, Bauhaus regularly shows up in my music series' here, and the Band That Invented Goth are back again today with their cover of "Ziggy Stardust." Bauhaus' 1982 version of Bowie's classic was recorded as a standalone single (the B-Side, a cover of Brian Eno's "Third Uncle," is really good, too!) Decidedly "not goth" (don't listen to this expecting a bunch of dark gloom and doom. This thing rocks: "Bela Lugosi's Dead" it ain't!,) the single reached #15 on the UK Singles chart, and #13 in Ireland. (Fun Fact: If you have time, look up the video for Chicago's 1984 hit ballad, "You're the Inspiration." Yes, that is indeed a Bauhaus T-shirt that vocalist Peter Cetera is wearing!) I love Peter Murphy's voice. His solo stuff is really good, too.

Much harder punch than the original. RE: the t-shirt, that doesn't make Peter Cetera cool, unlike Sting wearing a The Beat shirt in "Don't Stand So Close to Me."

@FourWalls - I really, really wanted to see that tour that Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire did together a few years back, but couldn't swing it when it came through Denver. I've heard it was incredible.

Yeah, but back then, Sting was cool no matter what he wore (The Beat shirt just made him that much cooler!) Peter Cetera, on the other hand, seized control of a great band and drove it into a ditch!

Bauhaus was a great band. The singer, Peter Murphy, has had a nice solo career, while the other three did quite well as Love and Rockets.
