It's More Convenient To Apply On Line, Than It Is In Person!

I am starting to wonder how humans have jobs at all, some days. My old iPhone really can't keep up with all the new software updates, and after two years, I'm eligable for an upgrade. I am going away for the weekend of the 26th, and would really like to have the new phone by then, since i will need it for Uber, and other navigation. - I decided to go to the mall, and get an upgrade at the Bell store. They wanted some kind of government ID. I don't have a drivers licence, because I am legally blind. My passport expired, and I can't really afford to go anywhere anyway, and the passport, along with the regular government ID is EXPENSIVE!!!!! Why do I need a government ID to show my face in the store, and buy something? I have ID from the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) and that's got my nme, picture, address, signature, and an expiry date on it. What's more, it's FREE to renew!!!! They wouldn't accept that, and told me to either do it on line, or over the phone. Does anyone else find it a bit curious, that I am not trusted in person without certain ID, but I can do it "anonymously" over the phone, or on line? I had the exact same problem when trying to open a bank account in the branch. Something is definitely wrong with this picture!!!!!!

this is funny that they will accept application online which one can give false information. Weird set up. or maybe if you need the phone immediately, cant you just ask someone to buy for you?

That's a good idea, but it would be weird to ask a total stranger. LOL I was at the mall on my own. I could imagine how weird it'd be if someone asked me to do that. How would I know they were on the up and up? But it is an interesting idea, and would work if I still had family in town.

@danishcanadian yeah any family or friends maybe will be able to help you out. it's just really weird usually "personal" is better than online. although you know it is easier to apply for a job via internet as well.

Here in Kenya, you must show your government ID whenever you are either using your credit cards, making transactions and in many other scenarios so we always have these cards
