How can we stick to our shopping list to reduce implusive buying

May 22, 2018 11:52pm CST
I know I love to make a shopping list, especially if my partner needs to see what I need to buy and the total money needed but the unfortunate thing is that I might not stick with the list, not with all the beautiful things one might see while shopping. I sometimes reduce the qty of things in the list to buy what was not on the list or I just dumped the one on the list to buy a totally new thing that wasn't on the list which I might regret later why I didn't buy the one on the list which was more important. Do you experience same, how can we always stick to our shopping list to reduce impulsive buying and maybe regretting later?

My list is busted when I see "buy one take one" or 50% off signs. No more list, no more budget.

@augusta123 well reality of life, I think this is really something about "women", even if we don't need yet, we tend to think we will sure need in the future and we don't like to waste any opportunity to "save" .. argh!

@Mavic123456 yea, that's always thr mindset we believe it will be needed in the future but funny enough we dump the ones we might need for the present haha

I buy basically by my shopping list. I basically have no strong shopping desire for things that are not on the list.

I know what you mean, I went in to Walgreens for just one item, saw their $1 aisle, got 3 dollar items too. I'll buy it if it's a super good price bring mindful of my budget, always. There were times I wanted some items, but didn't buy...I felt good keeping my money. One thing I found that helps me not spend, is to check my food cabinet knowing what you have so you don't over buy saves money.

It is good to make a list then going through the same can cut the unnecessary items. If you tempt to buy something out of list, stop for a minute and thing, which will affect the budget or you really need it. I think that helps you in a better way to avoid the unwanted shopping. After all we are the master of ours.

I try to only buy what is on my list or what is in my mind i know i need to buy. Right now its not easy paying bills and staying on top of things so sticking to what we can afford and have is priority right now.

better that way

I rarely ever impulse shop and even then it's because of a bargain price.

That is one of the differences between a male and a female shopper. Men are more strict with lists. I think there's nothing you can do with that, being an impulsive buyer. It's just you being "lovely", I mean you.
