I've written before about sitting down with a couple of cookbooks, going through them for ideas/recipes, and then making my weekly dinner plan and grocery shopping list. I just did that for the coming week and I thought I'd share my plan for the next week's worth of dinners in case anyone is interested. I usually ask "what's for dinner?" so you know that *I* find what others eat interesting. Your mileage may vary.
Anyway, this is what is on deck for the next 7 days. I try to do a starchy carb on workout days (Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and not on other days though I am skipping it tomorrow and full-on cheating on Friday night instead. Here's the lineup:
Thursday: ham steak, mashed butternut squash, garlic green beans
Friday: cheese fondue, French baguette, pretzel rods
Saturday: grilled skirt steak, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed baby carrots with thyme
Sunday: Crispy Sicilian-Style Pounded Tuna, cauliflower rice, zucchini gratin
Monday: Veal Saltimbocca Pockets, basmati rice, creamed spinach
Tuesday: Prime Sirloin Oscar, baked potatoes, grilled asparagus
Wednesday: out for dinner and trivia
Thursday: roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, steamed buffalo cauliflower
Do you plan your meals out in advance or make a shopping list before you go to the grocery store? I've found that planning and making a list helps me to use up what I already have on hand and to reduce impulse buys--though I do still buy things when I find a good sale.

Just recently, I made a meal for my toddler because my daughter is a picky eater. I am going to buy the ingredients tomorrow after attending the mass
