My daughter was victim today of the same scam.

I told you about my terrifying experience with a phone call who asked ransom for my daughter. It ruined my night even though it was all a fake. Today my daughter came shaken. She was called to tell her that her eldest daughter was kidnapped. She did not even have her cellphone as I had brought it home by mistake this morning. My eldest granddaughter is in another country and she was with some friends at a beach where they did not have phone signal. It took ages to reach her and she, of course, was fine. The voice was the same, I don´t know how they do it Have you had any experience with this? It seems it is a new way of stealing.

There were incidents like that of your here. The modus was that to rob the house and perhaps to kidnap which is scary.

This is only a call. They say that they have a member of your family and I don´t know how they do it, but it is the very same voice of your loved one. Then they ask you for the amount.

@marguicha Really? But how do they copy the voice of your loved one? Are they stalking people?

No, we have nothing like this. Are the police trying to trace the number? It should not be so hard for them.

@marguicha This is something serious and they should do something. You first, then your daughter, they must be stopped.

I think that they are people in jail who work with others outside.

@Tina30219 Along with technology, thw world has more good and more problems. Just to think that people in jail can pay the wardens to get them several cellphones to hide in their rooms! And a band to collect the money! Nothing to do with the old visits from the outside where there was more safety for society.

That is not just terrifying but it is terrible. I really hope the authorities in your country can find those responsible for this and make them pay for it. They are hurting people in many ways by doing this.

When you have the experience, you use your guts and forget reason, unfortunately. I was shaken for a long time yesterday and Claudia KNEW it was a scam, but still wanted to listen to Carolina´s voice.

@marguicha I don't blame her for wanting to contact her daughter and make sure she was okay. We get scams over here to do with the IRS. I am sure there are many others, but that is the biggest one. I am guaranteed to get a call atleast once a week from a number I don't recognize. I go to look the number up online and find out it's identified as a known scammer.

My documents were stolen last year. But in this country everyone can get lists of names and phones of everyone. In election time, even politicians ring me to tell me how wonderful they are. It is a machine though.

They want the money. And there are not enough cops nor a good system to check that they don´t have access to that information in jails.

What is even more frightening is how they get your phone number and the information that you have a daughter or any children at all. What else do they know about you that they can try to use against you?

That has been a well-known scam in the US for almost 2 years now. They usually try it on senior citizens.
