Are you a Team Player?

I am a member of an advocacy group that has a general meeting at least once a month to discuss the next steps in our goal to promote social change in my province. My understanding when I joined this group was that we are a TEAM and nobody on the team is the BOSS, although we do have a team leader. Lately there have been squabbles among the members over who is doing the most work, who isn't contributing enough and so on. When one person takes the initiative, the others are like; So YOU'RE the boss now are you? I had to stop attending these meetings because there are too many egos seeking all the glory and not enough TEAM WORK. Are you a Team Player or a glory seeker? Do you get easily offended if someone from your team takes the initiative and gets things done while the rest are squabbling over who's the boss?

I am a Chief Resident Stud Vet and that means that I am the boss of my team , but then I cannot handle the work singly. So to accomplish any job successfully you need to have a good team and you need to be with the team irrespective of your position on the ladder! Then only we can achieve success! I am always a team player, though I am the Captain! Thanks!

It's good that you can work as a team. More things get done that way.

If it is voluntary, then they should volunteer to be the leader if they want to do all the work. The important thing there is to get the work done.

When I worked ages ago in NYC I worked for marine insurance companies and there everyone has to work as part of a team. It worked out pretty good. Someone always had your back and you didn't even need to worry if you were out sick.

I consider myself a team player but that does not prevent me from complaining if I have a reason to or voicing my displeasure with what I may see as unfair. I guess it is how you do it and whether we can all work to resolve the issue as a group.

I agree. There are a couple people in this group who have done marvelous work, but it went straight to their ego.

I AM a team player and a strong advocate of working together. I do recall when I was a supervisor at Coke, though, one time I reminded my forklift driver that there was no "I" in team. He said back, "There's no we in team either." lol. Somehow he had a point.
