Not sure if this guy is brave or just plain nuts.
Quite a few youtubes are circulating showing close ups of the amazing Hawaiian lava flows but this guy is upstairs in a two story house on the edge of Hell on Earth. Not trapped but an explosion like he sees could take him out in seconds I would like to see a volcano going off but from a safer distance than this.

I remember about a reporter or photographer killed when Mt. Helens errupted. He would not understand he had to go.

I have read that somme people filmmed their houses during the eruption to prove their house was already on fire before tha lava hit because their insurance covers fire but not lava or volcanic eruptions!

@Aquitaine24 sounds a good plan, and I expect the heart from lava would cause buildings and trees to ignite before the actual lave streams make contact. Being close enough to the property to get it on film is dangerous though

Well, it is now toward the end of July, and we know he got out in time. We also know he ran a lava boat and got the boat really close to the lava, and there was a littoral explosion, and 24 passengers were injured. All the other boat owners said he tends to take risks and the other boats that were out there said he was way too close. The other boats stay at a safe distance and get great video and bring their tourists safely back to land.

@petatonicsca didn't realize the boat incident was the same guy. Wow. Bad enough putting himself at risk but endangering others too is pretty bad

@arthurchappell Apparently he already had four citations for reckless boating...

@petatonicsca they should stop him going out on the water especially with passengers and until the eruption ends

Not only an explosion, but the gas that spews from the volcano is toxic. You might run from the lava (which is very slow-moving, contrary to the movies), but you can't run from what it's doing to the air.
