I am not into pop music and KPOP but Kudos to BTS for being Number 1 at the music charts because this may help the treatment of Society in the US to Asian American men. Hollywood portrayed Asian men on movies and TV as either unattractive nerds or Asexual Martial Artist who will never kiss nor have sex with his love interest on screen. Since the 1920's US media portrayed Asian men as undesirable. These guys did got famous for their Talent but they also got famous because women find them attractive. Hollywood's stereotype for Asian men had made dating hard for some Asian American men. The unattractive portrayal of Asian men in Hollywood is the reason why they casted a White guy to play Son Goku,Juan Rico, Kyo Kusonagi and other Asian characters who would have been iconic in the US. Music Industry is different from movie industry but this may influence the Hollywood producers of their Assumption that Asians don't draw. This is not a One hit Wonder situation because their Rise in the US charts was a gradual effect for few years. Their fanbase in the US is very diverse, women of different colors. I hope this will finally prove to Hollywood that Asians can draw.

@CaptAlbertWhisker It sounds good for us (asians). Well, music is universal. Anggun's sound is unique. I believe that Europeans like unique voices. I Love European boyband too in my teen.

I knew this was going to be about BTS. I seen them one time and I could see a lot of people cheering for them.

I hope this will lead to the decrease of Asian male portrayals like this. Hollywood producers had been casting White and Black actors for Asian male roles because they think the audience wont find him attractive.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I think that is from 16 candles the movie was supposed to be funny. It may not change much. A lot of people still do not know who BTSIs.

@CookieMonster46 I think at least the younger generations knows them. Most baby boomers and genexers are stuck on their era when it comes to singers. A small change might be a glimmer of hope.

Yeah, i haven't really thought of it like that. BTS rising in the US can do a lot of good for other Asians too. But so far.. i haven't observed much changes.. except for that Crazy Rich Asians movie

More Asians are charting on the US music charts now and they don't even sing English.

@mlgen1037 I want portrayals like this stop. Though I am Hispanic, I am of Asian descent so these nerdy Asexual portrayals needs to stop because it made a lot of Asians in US grow up insecure about themselves.

They are the ones who try opened the doors though. I won't consider Psy since he is more of a comedy act and he looks more of What Hollywood thing what Asian men looks like. He is the stereotype from movies.
