The games the Government plays...pain pills

I can understand - somewhat- the restrictions and regulations placed on pain medications. It's supposed to restrict the illegal use of narcotics. I have my doubts that it is doing the job that it was put in place to do, but it is causing serious problems for the people who are in severe constant chronic pain. I'm one of those people. Over the counter pain medications like Tylenol and aspirin don't begin to touch the pain. I am kind of embarrassed to express the kind of pain I'm in when there are people out there that are in worse pain than me. I have pain in both hips, knees, and ankles. Walking is a new lesson in pain each time I stand up. I need to see an orthopedic doctor about getting my replacement knees replaced. Besides the knees I fight pain in my hands, wrists, arms and shoulders, and also my lower back and neck. This pain came from an on the job injury that wasn't tended to immediately. Not only was I forced to finish my shift the day I was injured, but I ended up working four hours over time. So you have some idea of the pain levels. To get my pain medications I have to see a "Pain Doctor" each time I need the pills, which is monthly. Periodically I am tested to make sure that I am taking the medication and not selling it. (I could be driving a luxury car if I sold the medications. Right now I either walk or Bill drives me where I need to go.) The pharmacy seldom has the full prescription amount of pain pills. So I either do without or go to the doctor and explain about the shortage of medication. I can only get one prescription for pain pills per month which makes things really tough if I am shorted and need to get another prescription. I either live in pain or turn to illegal drugs while I am waiting for the prescription time to elapse. I'm looking at that right now. (By the way, I don't use illegal drugs, so I just get to suffer) I did some research and found that this mess was due to Obama and his "war on drugs". As usual it's messed things up for the people who live in pain and guard their prescription medications with their lives. Shoot, when my house burned down with all my prescription medications in it I about had to sign my signature in blood stating that I didn't sell the drugs that they burned in the fire. With Obama's set up, Bill can no longer go to his orthopedic doctor that is about 3 hours drive from here, get his prescription and get it filled down here. I doubt that he can get it filled in Gilroy without causing problems either. So apparently he has to get into my pain clinic to get his pain medication. In short, for the legitimate pain sufferer who guards his medications with his life because they are what give him some quality of life, this law that was created by Obama is the pits. It doesn't leave much "quality" of life for those of us who are trying to have a quality of life that is close to the one they had before the horrible pain took over their lives. We are now having to bow and scrape and beg to get our medications. As I was told by someone, we can expect that it could come to our having to go to the doctor every three days to get our pain medications. Even now there are people that have to go every week to get prescriptions for pain meds. When does the American public get to return to being adults and not have the government watching over them 24/7?

I know what you mean. Years ago I used to get pain medicine, that would knock out any pain. Last month I went to the doctor asked for it. he said I had to go to a pain clinic. Do I understand exactly how feel. I do hope things get better for the both of you.

Thanks to one of our past presidents we all will have to go to pain clinics. I've been going to mine for about two years. It's on my records that I can't take Aspirin or Aspirin products, so she put me on ibuprofin (aspirin) and needless to say the results are HORRIBLE! I run at both ends (forgive the graphic descriptions) and it won't be long before I am having problems with passing out. I have to return the stuff to her when I see her the next time... I have to be honest, there is nothing like taking an Ibuprofin and having the Hershey squirts for the next 12 hours. By the time it dries up it's time to take another dose (which I don't do! I ain't that dumb!!!!!). All in all, pain clinics aren't that bad. It's just that periodically they will change the physician or PT on you and you have to start from square one. Also, if you're given something that is like codeine you'll get to pee in a cup to prove you're taking the meds and not selling them. I'm not a good shot when I have to squat and pee in a cup! I usually miss and pee in my hand!!! I've gotten a bit better, but not a lot, I still have to do a LOT of hand and arm washing when I finish. Also they discuss alternate forms of pain control, which I have been through and they haven't worked for me. My best form of pain control is to get deep into working on making my teddy bears or before the house burned down, making jewelry.
