There was a bee or hornet in my kitchen again

Saturday, I took out an avocado and sliced it in half, ready to mash it for my avocado omelet, when all of a sudden I heard a weird sound. Thought it might be a fly. I stopped what I was doing, looked up at the kitchen window and saw something there. It wasn't a fly. It was a bee or maybe a hornet (though I will call it a bee for the rest of the post) flying around between the kitchen window and the blinds. I screamed and ran away from the kitchen to my upstairs bedroom as fast as I could. I started hysterically crying and was ready to get dressed and bolt out of the house. I was terrified as hell about being at home with it and about trying to kill it because unlike the other bee I killed recently, which was on the dining room floor and pretty still, this one was much bigger and flying around. So, I called my mom and through heavy tears told her about the bee and how scared I was. She told dad about it and had him come over and kill it. Luckily, when dad came over, with that spray that kills them, the bee was still flying around between the kitchen window and the blinds. He didn't fully open or pick up the blinds and sprayed. That didn't seem to do anything since the bee was still flying around there like nobody's business. So, then he took a magazine and tried to smash it. He thought he got it but it kept flying away in a different direction. We couldn't see where it went but thankfully it was still between the kitchen window and the blinds. I tried looking for it, and when I spotted it, I screamed, told him where it was, and ran away from the kitchen to the dining room, where I could still see the kitchen. He tried hitting the blinds in hopes of smashing it and the bee fell to the window sill. Dad told me the bee was dead, so I went back to the kitchen to look. I saw that the bee was flapping its wings, which meant it was still alive. So, he hit it again with a magazine and when it was no longer moving, he squashed it with a bounty and threw it away. I wonder how that thing got into the kitchen... I was so relieved when it was gone. Thank god that dad was home and could come over and kill it for me. Otherwise, I probably would have ran out of the house and stayed away until hubby came home from work. Pathetic I know but insects and bugs freak me out and even scare me big time.

I am 35 and shouldn't be calling my dad to come over and kill it but glad he was available and actually came over. Good thing he lives close to me.

@mlgen1037 Good thing he wasn't afraid to come near it. It would be too funny if he was and also ran for his life.

@lovebuglena hahaha but I would always call my dad too even if I am in my 30's. Always a daddy's girl. And we are lucky.

I don't know what to say. I find this a very odd reaction! We live in a house which is more than 100 years old. I know that there are wasps and hornets in the attic. They are protected and it's forbidden to kill them. I think it was probably a wasp which you encountered. Bees rarely fly into people's homes. We've only had a hornet twice in our rooms, wasps a bit more often. They are not interested in people at all. They only want to get out. I open the windows wide and leave the room. After some time they have disappeared. The more you hop around and wave your arms, the wilder you make them.

I never wave my arms and hop around when I see them. I run away fast. Maybe it was a wasp. I didn't really pay attention and can't tell them apart anyway if I see them. Someone did tell me to open a window but I have a screen on mine so that would be no use. I could have maybe opened the balcony, which is near the kitchen but then leaving it open more insects could fly in. And I didn't want to risk that, especially since this one may not have flown away for a while.
