What if your husband secretly took out a life insurance policy on your name?.

. An acquaintance of mine told me that she's bothered by what she discovered that her husband took out a life insurance policy on her name.. She asked what if I was her, what would I do?.. I told her that I will move out .. take with me the copy of the insurance policy and will never ever trust him with my life ever again .. I will tell everyone I know, I will go to the police, I will ring up the insurance company and tell them that I am in fear for my life and that they should terminate that insurance policy .. But after a year since she told me this , they are still together ..I wonder if I was exaggerated with my advice to her.. I wish she never told me because I worry about her.. What would you do if you found out that your husband took out a life insurance policy on your name? Bess..

If they have had a stormy relationship then this move could be quite unsettling. I would open up the issue and discucss it threadbare.

I don't think you exaggerated at all. That's something he should have discussed with her as his wife. That he did that in secret is very suspect

There should be no secrets in a marriage, especially over a life insurance policy. I wouldn't hang around waiting to find out. I hope they discussed it and things are good between them.

@epiffanie That I agree with. I'm sure you and I wouldn't mind or be worried if our husbands took out life insurance policies on us.

it will be a crazy thing and if he wants to take he has to tell his wife before take her sign. tell your friend to take life insurance of her husband now without telling him haha let see what happen next.

They should have discussed and agreed. This will create worry and unpleasantness. Why do it on the sly? siva

A bit fishy isn't it! You never know why the husband did that. But it doesn't sound good.

@epiffanie The guy in this case is planning something for sure. There were cases in the past when the police found out the husband and his lover had planned things in advance for about 4-5 yrs before arranging some accidents, one did kill the wife!

I took out life insurance policy on my name when my kids were young and they are the beneficiaries in the event of my passing and they were still very young.. But to take out a policy on my partner's name without letting him know would not sound right..

@Peach10 you know, in recents months here in Melbourne, a couple of cases where the partner took out life insurance on the partner and then an "accident" happened ... the other one went missing and the body was found a couple of weeks later .. both had life insurance policies and the partners were the sole beneficiaries ..

I would most definitely have some concerns there and question him why did he secretly do it behind my back because if it was good deed he would have discussed it with me in advance. But to do it behind my back; I would most definitely sleep with one eye open and one eye closed!

Here, I think the person that the policy is on has to sign it, as far as I know. I`m not married but we have so many insurance policies that are mandatory that I am saving money for burial and not paying another company. BUT with all the greed today I would worry that I was going to be killed for that money.
