They were the first to do it here, but it didn't last

Gay marriage became legal here in Georgia in 2015. I remember seeing specifically in our local newspaper, The Toccoa Record, that a lesbian couple (who my younger son knows and worked with at his part time job), were the first to legally wed here in our Town and County. They did it at the Court House Downtown with some kind of Justice of the Peace.
Well, guess what my son told me the other day since he knew them? He learned through the grape vine that they had broken up! Since, they were legally wed, that means they got legally divorced.
Wow, is what I said to him. I reminded him of how those two were the first homosexual couple to legally marry in this Town in 2015.
I was real surprised to hear about them breaking up.

Sometimes I find it funny when some people insist on something that they are passionate about then they got it, just to find they will be the first ones to lose it.

@LeaPea2417 Thank you, Anne. Maybe I was reading your mind at that moment.

Sad to hear as they were the first. But it can happen to anyone

I agree, it doesn't matter if you are gay or straight, many unions do not last.

That is an interesting question. I wonder that too.

I respect gay people. I think they can get married like normal people, and of course they can get divorced.

This is not legal in Philippines but there are many transgenders who want to go abroad just to marry their partners.
