Anniversary Getaway was Amazing

To say that I fell in love with the Red Lion Inn is a gross understatement, it was amazing. First our room, it was a corner room on the 3rd floor. We had a fireplace and a porch with our king bedded room. I loved it at first sight. They left us a welcome note and a happy anniversary gift. I had ordered chocolate covered strawberries and they were waiting for us along with two large bottles of Saratoga Water.
We had dinner reservations for 6 pm and by 6:15 our two meals, turkey dinner and prime rib were sitting in front of us. I had a cappuccino and coconut pana cotta for dessert and returned to our room completely satisfied.
Before we arrived at the hotel we had visited Naumkeag which is a "summer cottage" with 44 rooms and spectacular gardens.
Part of our package at the Inn was tickets to the Berkshire Botanical Gardens and we went there after breakfast on our actual anniversary. It is 15 acres of many different gardens. Not much was in bloom but enough to make it interesting.
It was very warm and we only spent about an hour and a half at the garden and then drove home. We were very pleased with how we had chosen to spend our 50th wedding anniversary.

@BelleStarr When we had our 50th anniversay, instead of our kids paying a fortune to feed a lot of people we don't even like, they gave us a week long celebration at their house in Charleston, SC. It was fantastic. So glad yours was amazing too!

@DianneN I always wonder why a chef will send out a fried egg with a hard yoke when over medium is requested. Do they think I won't notice? lol I noticed!!

I made myself very clear to my children that a party was not what I wanted and they respected that. lol It quite shocked some other friends who think every occasion requires a party. I prefer to interact in small groups not large parties.

@cintol For my 60th I let my daughter invite 4 of my closest friends, my two daughters in laws and my 4 granddaughters and we had a ladies tea, it was wonderful.

@BelleStarr I agree with you, I just turned 60 and told mine, no party let me get old in peace. They agreed and let me have my day, we just did dinner and ice cream at DQ, it was a good day. I'm glad they respected you as well and let you have your day as you wanted.
