Play it Again, Sam #16a - "Got to Get You Into My Life"

Next week, my Internet access is going to be sporadic at best, so I'm going to try to get a few Play it Again, Sam's in while I can. As always, Play it Again, Sam is a two part discussion consisting of an original song followed by a cover of that song. We are at #16a, the "original:" "Got to Get You Into My Life" by The Beatles. "Got to Get You Into My Life," written by Paul McCartney, but, as always, credited to Lennon-McCartney, is a track from the band's 1966 album, Revolver (coincidentally, or not, my favorite Beatles album.) While John Lennon wrote that album's "Tomorrow Never Knows" about tripping on LSD, McCartney has said that "Got to Get You Into My Life" is about a subject near and dear to me: marijuana. It's a Beatles classic, and ironically, while Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers had a Top 10 (#6) hit with a cover of the song in 1966, The Beatles didn't have a hit with it until 1976, six years after they had broken up. Even more odd, their original only reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, one slot below Bennett's cover. @JolietJake pointed out something quite interesting that I did not know: most of the Beatles songs found on You Tube aren't actually The Beatles. So be sure to enjoy the next best thing: Paul McCartney performing the song live at the White House for President Obama and guests! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
'Welcome to the white house'... McCartney nos da la bienvenida a la Casa Blanca... un regalo para los seguidores Paul y compañía.

And I always thought it was about a woman, lol. I agree on Revolver being one of the best! The Fab Four showed they could rock with the best of them.

McCartney has said so himself. Hell, remember when he got caught with like, a pound of weed in Japan?

@dgobucks226 - Wish I could afford a pound of weed right now! That's nothing to him!

Ah, Sir Paul. Ah, Revolver. Apparently you can figure out that I sort of approve.

Me too. Then again, I like Earth, Wind & Fire more than I like The Beatles!
