Yesterday the United States of America had something happen that has never happened before in the 240 years of her existence as a nation. A former president turned 94 years old. Yesterday former President George HW Bush (or "Bush 41") celebrated his 94th birthday. That makes him the oldest living former president in US history. If he continues in health, former President Jimmy Carter will join him at age 94, come October 1st. In addition to this historic achievement, both men share something else in common: both are Navy veterans. President Bush saw combat in World War II, and President Carter was in the Navy from 1946 through 1953. For the first time ever, we say "Happy 94th birthday" to a former president!!! President Bush taking the oath of office in 1989, while his late wife Barbara looks on, holding the Bible:
(20 Jan 1989) Vice President George H.W. Bush places his left hand upon two Bibles, one used by George Washington, one by his own family, and takes his oath,...

How cool is that? I hope they enjoy their birthdays and a good few more years yet.

They say that we are living longer than ever before. Sometimes that is good.

That is news to me as I thought there should have been others who lived beyond 94. President Bush is not in good health, I understand - siva

President Carter was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few years ago so he’s not in great shape, either. President Bush has been in and out of the hospital a lot in the past year, though, so I’m concerned about his health.

@FourWalls I remember seeing him in the wheel chair at the Super Bowl and didn't think he would make it this far. I never thought that Barbara would be gone before him. Such a sweet couple.
