Everything Finished

I have housing inspection this afternoon between 12:30 and 4:30. I didn't have a lot to do, with having washed the kitchen floor yesterday, but there was still some tidying. I really didn't think I would be able to do it. I didn't go to the pool this morning because I could barely walk when I got up. My leg/hip joint hurt so bad, I could barely move. However, baby steps and a shower and I'm doing okay. Not great. However, it was enough to get the tidying done. I also lucked out when I went to take the garbage out. The maintenance gals were coming in and one volunteered to take it for me. Totally awesome of them. So, now everything is done except vacuuming and dusting, and I'm going to leave that until I can move a lot better than I am. At least I won't need to do any cleaning for a while to come. Though I know the complex will also have an inspection coming up because they are federally funded for low income. Last year it was done over three days, I think, and the apartments chosen at random during a one hour stretch of time. My apartment wasn't checked last year, but there's also this year. I already had the inspection by the office for anything that needed fixing, and everything was good then, so today's inspection should also go well. The maintenance gals were handing out rent renewals, which because I'm having my housing inspection today, is coming up the first of September. I saw the rent is going up, but not much. Today's inspection will also determine what my future rent portion will be. I'll get that notice from housing next week. I'm really hoping with being on Medicare as of next month that it goes down instead of up. I also got an e-mail from Social Services regarding Medicare, and the state funded help will take up to two months before it starts, so next month and August could be very low checks for me from Social Security. Something I'm definitely not looking forward to. Since I won't be cutting back on paying my bills, it means I'll be cutting back on my food shopping. No, I will not utilize the food pantries. What they give out is preservative heavy, and I have no wish or desire to go back to that or the junk food they offer. I'll stock up as best I can this month. I'm three months ahead with my Y membership, so I can skip those payments until the state funding for my Medicare kicks in. It's wonderful growing old. I also worked on Wilderness Challenge this morning between getting the apartment ready. That's what I've been up to this morning. How was your day? The noon siren just went off, so I can expect company in about half an hour. In the meantime, I'm going to check notifications. Thanks for reading.

You are tough to have done so much even when not feeling so good.

It helped I was fortified with Ibuprofen that wore off just before he got here. I'm fortified again, but still feeling like my leg is going to crumble. I'll be glad when it kicks in.

@just4him , Are you allowed to take some of those every day?

@marlina I take as needed. I haven't taken them hardly at all, and then I'm hit with either sciatica or this hip pain that started a couple days ago. Yesterday wasn't as bad though. I still went swimming, but not this morning. I took the Ibuprofen shortly after I got up and again a little while ago. That's a first as I usually don't need two doses in a day, so this is bad. I know about the side affects of Ibuprofen, but it's the only pain medication that works. So far, I've been lucky with no side affects.

@amitkokiladitya Once a year by Housing and once by the complex because it's low income housing, funded by the government.

Do they get very picky about the inspections? It all sounds a bit traumatic.

@JudyEv I'm sure they look at that as well, which is why I tidied up the place, but their main interest is in making certain everything works as it should.

They just make certain everything is working as it should. If not, they will notify the office to have certain things fixed before they approve my housing for the next year. Everything is in good working order, so I don't see any problems.

@just4him That's good. I thought perhaps they were inspecting your efforts as a house-keeper - keeping the unit clean, etc.

I hope your inspection went good! We had one back in February, by the maintance men here, but I was sick so they barely came in and looked around. Now we're waiting for them to send around the papers for the HUD inspections, which like your funded one, is only a select few apartments, though all done quick and in one day. We just did our lease paperwork too, and our rent for July went up $250-$300, due to my moms hours going back up. We also went up for the yearly lease 4 days later, that starts October, but we wont know that amount til around August, and then by the time OCT comes, it wont even matter - as hours will go back down so we'll have to do up another lease for fall / winter! LOL

Sounds complicated with the rent. I waited a bit for him to show up. Got here about 2:30. He was in and out in 5 minutes. I marked the rental renewal for 12 months. That rent is going up to $477. So, now I just wait to find out what my portion is going to be starting Sept. 1.

@Courtlynn I have a two bedroom apartment. All of them in the complex are two. It works out perfect for me, so I can have one of the bedrooms as my office. Yes, it's extremely reasonable, since most rents here are more than that for a one bedroom. My son's is $650 for a one bedroom loft apartment. He also has a basement, hence my going there to do laundry.

@just4him not really, it's always been this way the whole 22 years we've lived here. As my moms jobs were all m/hotels where her hours went up in warm months and down in cold. Under $500 isn't bad for a one bedroom! Ours is $1,400 for a three and we'll pay 1,200 as of july 1st

Thank you. I'm still fighting this strange hip pain, though I'm not certain it's directly in the hip. It feels like the upper thigh. Anyway, I'm praying for healing, as I doubt anything can be done for it medically.

I did an exercise called Budokon on Wednesday. I've been sore ever since. My mother has been fussing about me not exercising lately. Yesterday I did my latch hook rug in case I get to go couch shopping. But I might get to do that today.

I was thinking about my 10 year plan last night, ran something passed Tony and he just didnt know what to say about I would live in 10 years, but I can bet it won`t be in SS.

@andriaperry You qualify for SS when you turn 62, though most wait until they're 65. I know you need to apply for it to start getting it. Don't you plan on getting SS? I expect you won't really need it and it would only be extra income because of your being a landlord. I'm sorry if I've been out of line, but I just naturally assume, yes I know about that word, people will get SS when they qualify for it.

I don't visit the food pantry either. Most of their stuff isn't super healthy, plus, as just a single person, I don't want to take away from families.

As a single they don't give you enough to eat for more than a day, but you can only pick it up twice a week. They give you as much bread as you want though. No, thanks. It's also past expiration.
