Is atm fees fair to consumers we are only taking are money we replace are money is its not there when we draw it out but is 38 dollars for drawing 20 dollars out. This is how banks make there money. I think atm or over the limit fees so be lowered because people are having hard times and I dont think banks are struggling as much as they say they are.

Here if you withdraw the money from the same bank, then it won't charge you. If you withdraw money from a different bank, then it may charge you a little fee. It depends on the rules of the bank. In fact today we don't often need the cash. As today we can pay for many things by a phone easily. I haven't touched the ATM for some time already.

@William21001 Exactly, which is why some people here don't really trust banks and dont put a lot of their cash in there.

@playertwo If it is the same bank then it will not be an extra charge.

Hi William. I only experience that when I am withdrawing money in the atm of a certain bank and my atm card is from a different back too. That is where it gets tricky.

If I use the ATM where I work it charges me a fee of $2.25 then my bank charges another $1.50. I try to only use ATM's that accept my bank card and is free.

I think two things when I read this. One check your spelling and two you shouldn't be taking money out if you know it will overdraft you.

That seems like an excessive fee, That said, many banks will not charge a fee if you use that bank's ATM. Often times if there is a fee it's a private processor or another bank trying to recoup monies to maintain the machines. I tend to try to, whenever possible, get cash back at the stores I shop when I buy something. This costs nothing.

Gosh this is very timely for us here in the Philippines too, because the banks will also charge for over the counter transactions too! Imagine lining up in banks to get your money because the atm withdrawals have limit and then you will be charged to take out YOUR own money? Its ridiculous. We did not even get something when they took our money! haha I don't think they need it, they just want to raise more funds for their own benefits. The transaction fees are high, the rates are high so i am sure they are earning quite a lot already!

I don't think that it is right for the banks to charge so much to take out your money, that is why I find free places that don't charge.
