I just found out doctors are not allowed to date patients and may lose their job for it.

Dr. Chris Amann was the Physician of the wrestling company WWE. He got sued by the former wresler CM Punk because he clears injured wrestlers to wrestle making them get more injured. Cm Punk won his lawsuit againts him.
The real issue here is he might lose his license not because of the violations why he got lawsuit against him. Apparently the court finds out he dated one of the female wrestlers. (All WWE wrestlers are his patient and I just find out there is an ethics law that forbids doctors to date and have sexual relations with their patients.)
This is a grounds for disbarment. 
I understand why teachers are not allowed to date their students. I don't understand though why doctors are not allowed to have romantic relationships with patients.
Should doctors be allowed to date their patients if they are both consenting adults?

It has been illegal for as long as I can remember for doctors to date their patients. The same applies to teachers and their students.

That is definitely a no no, for sure. While it is possible the two could fall in love, while the professional is still in a position of influence over the patient, they cannot date. Doctors, dentists, therapists, counselors - they're all in positions of influence over their patients and cannot date them. It's too risky and they WILL lose their licenses to practice.

No wonder my therapists said no when I asked her on a date.

I don't know if there's an existing law here in the Philippines regarding doctors and patients situation. But as long as Doctors are not taking patients for granted then it should be legal.

So it can be allowed if doctors can wait for the patient to recover and not be a patient anymore. In case of athletes like wrestlers that wont be the case because they will work together for a long time since they have regular check ups.
