The IGOROT of the MOUNTAIN

Let me share a good art that I had found today. It has been a long time that I didn’t visit the local post office in my city. So I decided to walk through the mini-park in front of it. Then, I saw this art drawn on the wall adjacent to the stairs. I took the chance of taking a photo. We can never tell if it will be removed and changed to another type of art. It is an “Igorot” or native man in the Cordillera. During the old days, they wore G-string and indigenous accessories. Now, they only use this native outfit during special days. “Do you like indigenous art?” “Do you find interesting to see a wall art?” Image Credit: Shavkat

I guess it was too obvious that the art has its flaws. Perhaps the artist wasn't able to make it quite good on that part.

I am sure you will love the other arts. I am planning to explore the city if it doesn't rain for the succeeding days of this month.

@mlgen1037 That's nice. If it is not raining in Manila, I had done photo scavenging.

The art depicts the native man in the Cordillera. I took the chance of taking a photo of it. Perhaps they will remove it before the end of this year. A keepsake for having it and shared here.

@rebelann I can't wait to explore the nature of my country in the lowland areas. Hopefully, I can do it before the end of this year.

There are some man-made structures are not quite unique to me nowadays. Nature is one of the best art that should be appreciated.

I like paintings and art. Too bad I haven't been to the local museum we have in the city. They all have the paintings and art exhibit there. One day I will try to visit there and take photos to share here.

I hope you can have the chance to visit the local museum in your city. Whenever I am traveling, the museum is on the top list to visit before going around the place.

@JustBhem Our museums are not that fancy. That makes me dismayed sometimes.

I do think this art was done by the local artist in my city. It is quite hidden to the public and not being noticed by the locals. I might as well have a photo of it to share.

It was claimed as a flute. lol I think it is better if the artist used a gangsa. Gangsa is a well-known musical instrument of tribes.

If you have the chance, you can see the local people wearing them on the month of February, The Flower Festival.

@rakski I agree. Modernization had influenced them not to wear them that often.

@Shavkat oh yes. that is so true. There are more who wear those in Mountain province. In Baguio, less and less

i really wonder. how strong is the Igorot blowing his nose so that music can be made from his flute?

I was also thinking about it. If the artist just used the gangsa, then it would be more realistic.
