Happy Sunday and Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers here. I wish you all a great day and hope you are doing something fun. My dad has been gone for many years but today still brings back wonderful memories of him so for those of you whose dads have passed I hope you have good memories too. It's a gorgeous summer like day here today so the dads will have plenty of sunshine to enjoy! For everyone else who isn't a dad nor celebrating Fathers Day I hope you have a great day too!!

What a lovely post, Marilyn. My dad has been gone many years, but a day doesn't go by when I don't think of him. I was his little princess, and he was my knight in shining armor. I am who I am today because of him and miss him dearly. It's a beautiful day here as well, and we have wonderful things happening today.

Same here Dianne. I only had a brother so my dad treated me like a princess too. I do miss him but I'm happy he lived long enough to see my children born and give them memories too. When Fathers Day rolls around we laugh at some of the crazy things my dad did. He was a jokester

@Marilynda1225 That's the way to keep his memory alive. I, too, was glad my parents were around to see my sons. They both still remember him fondly, thank goodness.

This is a sweet post to read. Its been 9 years today since I last visited my beloved Dad, who was terribly sick at the time. I pulled my mother aside and asked her why he was still at home, he was very frail. The next day she took him to the doctors office and he was admitted for the final time. Nine years ago tomorrow I got that call that he was in the hospital. And I quickly left work and sat at his bedside holding his hand, knowing that we'd have such few times left in this lifetime. I wanted to go to the cemetery yesterday, but I know that he's not there, he's the blue in my eyes, the drive that our son exhibits when he takes on a new cause to better his community, and in so many other beautiful places in our lives.

Such a touching sentiment Julia. Losing our dads was horrible especially since it's only been 9 years for you. My dad has been gone 37 years but his memory lives on no matter how many years have passed. It's funny how traits are passed down generations and that you can see in yourself and your son. My kids inherited my dads sense of humor and my son his height (my dad was 6'6" and my son is just shy of that) My grandsons are all tall too.

I have great memories of my father and I remember the Father's days spent with him, when I was young. It is a gorgeous day also here, dry and beautiful.

its good you have those memories to think of today, and every day. wish I did, but unfortunately, my "dad" was a deadbeat jerk. so today I thought of my deceased grandfather, who I have many memories with.
