How many of yall miss this good old days when things were simple less complicated.Things seem to get more complicated the more time goes on with laws staying afloat with money everything. I wander why it takes so much to make it in this world today were it didnt in the past. Inflation have went up 90 percent more then income in the last past 100 years it sucks that people have to work untill they half dead and dont get to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

@BearArtistLady The cost of a car or truck is ridiculous. For 25k or 30k that puppy better have auto piolet, drink refill dispenser and an auto flushing seat.

There are somethings good from the old days but there is a change in people who want more for doing less and they want it now. It makes me laugh when sometimes you see they are bringing back some of the old methods and these young sparks think they have invented the wheel and yet I take great delight in telling them we were doing this forty odd years ago. Yes things have changed immensely over the years even peoples moral and ethical behaviour. Respect for authority and for your elders has gone down the pan too. On the whole people have good in them it is a minority that are bad but then our leaders do not lead by example very often!

I see people who do not honor contracts and promises and who make others have to work twice as hard. It is hard to find respect, you are right.

Yep, I have been screaming this for a while also, but some do prefer these times better because they can get what they need at their fingers. I just find it now is much easier for the ones at the top to manipulate the system and keep us poor now than ever. It used to be really simple to make money and the most simple jobs did not have all the crazy qualifications they want these days. Making everyone go to college for jobs where you will never ever make enough to pay back school loans and what not. Not to mention technology can be cool but is very expensive to replace. Not sure how that is making the world better. Just more coveninet for the wealthy to get wealthier at the expense of everyday people.

That is all because of big business. And big government. The top one percent just wants more and more and could care less about anyone else. Income has stayed stagnant while prices on everything has gone up way more. Just look at gas right now. Over three dollars a gallon. How sad. We need more and more alternative energies. No more with this fossil fuel stuff. And yes, I do miss the old days. I wish I could go back and change some things up. But I cannot. That is the sad part of all this.

@William21001 They got off track way back in the 1970's. The trend started to change during Nixon. Then the democrats changed somewhere in the late 70's and basically became just as corporate as the republicans. There is hardly no real source of real news anymore. They are all corporate owned. They cannot report anything unless it is directed by the higher ups. That is another reason we have a divided country. The right leaning news organizations are told to only report what favors the right and the left leaning ones do the same for the left. I don't watch those corporate news channels like Fox or CNN or CNBC. I watch The Young Turks on Youtube. I get the real truth. And I also watch Vice news on HBO. Other than that, all the others are corporate puppets. So we have been heading in this horrible direction for decades now.It is just starting to show its ugly head. And our democracy is being destroyed with this administration. The true American way is being killed off. And if that happens we are all in trouble. It will not matter what party you follow. It is really now the government against the rest of us. They are on no ones side at all. Do not believe in all the hype and propaganda out there.

Today I went to get the car's oil changed. I bought the oil filter. I drove the car to a shop and they asked me if I brought my own oil. I said, No, and that they could use shop oil to do the oil change. Our car uses 7 quarts instead of the regular 5 quarts that most 8 cylinder cars use. I waited and after 15 minutes, the car was taken off the lift and the man asked me for 45.00 dollars for the oil change. They only charge about 25 dollars to do an oil change if YOU PROVIDE YOUR OWN OIL AND YOU PROVIDE YOUR OWN OIL FILTER. So my wife was furious when she called Walmart and they told her it would only cost around 20 or some odd dollars for the oil change, and they provide the oil. But I just read online that some people have had a bad experience at Walmart getting an oil change. I have read some horror stories. So, I guess things are getting harder than ever these days, just for a simple oil change.

I agree with you.. I have not even had a raise in years.. no cost of living raises nothing.. if not for having 3 roommates I would not be able to live and afford housing and food etc. I often am glad I did not have children because I would not have wanted them to have to deal with the world they way it is today...

Thanks @sugartoes for pointing this discussion out to me. I do miss the old days when people bonded and did things together. However, I never would have written my stories without a computer (I have awful handwriting, so I write using a computer instead of pen and paper) and it is good that when we are separated from loved ones, we can still connect also anytime and anywhere. Yet, again, being connected with electronics is more deep and enduring. So I guess I have mixed emotions about the old day versus today.

I think it's common to believe that "the good ol' days were better." If you go back and read newspaper articles from what we consider "the good ol' days" you'll see them saying much the same thing, lamenting about things aren't as good as they were 30-40 years ago.

I surely miss the good old days. Everything is complicated in our days, the money seems to "evaporate", we need more and more to buy less and less. It's not a world I like anymore.
