Another day, another call from the Dallas Public Library

Dallas, Texas
June 18, 2018 3:20pm CST
It happened again! We went to drop off and pick up a few videos and books and it was before the hour of 3:PM. There was a delivery truck out front. The man had just unloaded 10 cases of books and DVDs and other media to the local branch of the Dallas Public Library, based on orders placed by library patrons, online. From the Library Catalog online. When we arrived home the phone rang. It was an automated call. " The library has an item for you to pick up. Please pick up these items as soon as possible. Thank you. " This will have to wait. Today we have a movie with Marlon Brando and Yul Brynner, called: MORITURI. Tomorrow can wait.

@rakski It is not always necessary to do that. You are able to check out a maximum number of videos, 10. and I try to bring them all back before picking up any more. I might otherwise be late with some and the late fees are a dollar a day per item checked out a day late per day could add up to some money.

Yes the good thing is, they keep items on hold for several days.

I don't get calls from the library when my hold arrives. I get an email instead.

Yea, that is one other option. The public library does give us these options. If you get the Library App, you can get notifications on your smart phone as well.

@lovebuglena , Well, I don't use the app myself. I don't use a smart phone anyway. I use my computer to go to the online catalog to order items to pick up when they are available.

That has happened to me often as well. Usually I will have walked down gotten things then walked home and then receive a call.

@lookatdesktop that would be awesome! Luckily I only live a mile from the library but walking a mile there and back then hearing I have to walk back nah I'll just wait until the next day.

Talk about a small world. Yea. Today we got yet another call to pick up an item. It's like they really want us to drive back and forth daily. I don't like doing that. I wish the videos would arrive at our front door and then I could go to the library once a week to bring 'em back.

It's in Black and White but a pretty good movie as far as I can tell. The main characters are played by famous actors from back in the old days of movie making.

As far as I can tell from the very first few minutes, before company came and I had to stop watching it for now, the German army wants a Japanese boat that is carrying enough rubber to supply their army for a long time. And the Germans are not the only ones interested in that sea vessel. More later when I have a chance to finish watching it.
