SOUR DONUTS - a short story - based on real events

It was another hot scorching day on planet earth. White fluffy clouds brought no relief to the heat wave. The day was basically like all other days. Hot and getting hotter. Tony knew that it would soon be September and a guy on the internet told us that we had until then before the end of the global industrial complex. Yea, right! All he wanted today was a gallon of 2% and get a free donut at the Thumb store. The lady was friendly and offered him a taste to make sure this time, the donut was not stale or sour. Tony had to dispose of his chewing gum ASAP. Then he asked for a bag to put the fresh chocolate glaze donut with cream filling in it as the chocolate icing was already halfway melting on his fingers. The friendly bakery lady handed him a paper towel. No problem It was fresh and good. The lady told Tony that the day he called her manager threw all the rest of the sour donuts away. At the register Tony told the cashier, "I am buying this gallon of milk but the donut was given to me to replace one that was sour a few days ago." The lady at the register listened to him and rang up his 2 items. By the time he got home to balance his checkbook registry he realized that cashier had charged him 69 cents for the fresh donut. "Oh well, I paid for it. Looks like she misunderstood me or perhaps she thought I was trying to get away without paying for a fresh donut. In any case it cost me 69 cents and has half way melted in the car on the drive home." End of story.

Melted food of any kind is horrible. Maybe he should have eaten it right there and then. Without waiting to get home.

Hello Anthony. Either the donut really costs 69 cents or he just tried to remember how much actually. 69 would be the easiest of them all.
