MyLot's advertisers know where I am. Of course I am in Wisconsin traveling on business. But it knows where I am. It gave me a Milwaukee Brewers ad. Do you ever find it spooky that when you are online it knows what you are doing, what you are searching, where you are hanging out, and where you are? I really don't. I know it is just the way it works. Yet, still...

There is nothing we can really hide anymore, that's for sure. It comes with the territory.

@porwest That is very different. There is something on my TV that I can ask questions to put things up.

Even my phone will now ask me questions like "How was Walmart?" THEY know where we are, what we do, and where we go.

I am sure you do. If you are on the Internet, they are tracking everything. Trust me.

It's always been like this. Everything we do is recorded.

Well, I am not sure it has always been like this. But certainly in the computer age much more data can and is collected, used, sold, and our privacy becomes less and less and less.

There are no secrets anymore. Everything you do is monitored by the Internet.

Very true. Never before has the term 'big brother' been as real as it is today. It is what it is I suppose. There are days when I swear they know more about me than I know about me.

They certainly seem to have a good idea of most things about me. And yes, it is a worry.

@porwest When we leave the country to visit our son in Ireland, social security know immediately and our pension drops after six weeks overseas. We don't need to tell them we're going. They know.

It's part of the deal, I think, when we expose ourselves to online activity. At the end of the day I really don't see a way around it. Even when you go to a grocery store they are essentially tracking your habits—directly or indirectly.

A lot of it is based on cookies and your viewing history at other sites. When I clear my cache out and delete cookies I end up with a lot of random adverts

I think its a little creepy, my daughter got a new phone last wk and after she had it for a few days it asked sent her a message asking " I see you typically go to bed around 2 am, would you like me to make you a to do list before you go to bed". Now I'm sorry but that is creepy that her phone knows what time she goes to bed and to make her a list.
