Does anyone see scary images when closing the eyes?

I have a problem. I mention that I don't watch scary movies at all. But I suffer from depression and anxiety. I take meds. When I am tired, at night, I close my eyes and I see ugly faces, dead people. This is very scary. Do you think meds can cause this? Did this happened to you? The images don't last long. They come and go, really fast. I don't understand why. Are these hallucinations? I don't hear voices or something else.

Meds can certainly cause these symptoms but they are also very common so learning how to deal with them is likely your best bet. Silly as it may sound I challenge you to speak to the images, say I love you to each and every one. Or just think it, don't have to say it out loud. See what happens when you do this.

@dya80dya They are called hypnogogic images. Many people see them before falling asleep. To some they are scary images but once you realize they are just images and they can not hurt you then you can relax and learn to observe them or simply ignore them. I still have them but lost my fear of them a long time ago. Nowadays I rather enjoy the images and often follow them on into dreamland. As to the depression and anxiety that could be an entirely different thing to the images. The two are not necessarily exclusive to each other. Although, as stated, medication can be a contributing factor.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try it. I am glad that you say they are very common. I didn't know that. Did you have them in some moments?

@Namelesss It's true. When I didn't take medication I never saw those images. I will try to not fear them. They scare me so much that I think I will become crazy. It's an irrational fear.

Scary indeed. Have you sought any help from a Physiatrist?

Thank you. But I am worried. My parents won't live forever.
