Who else loves treehouses?

One day while we were driving around looking at houses when we came upon this HUGE treehouse behind one of the riverside homes. We both had to take pictures of it. Isn't it great?
One of my favorite books as a kid was the Swiss Family Robinson who were stranded on a deserted island and built themselves a series of connected treehouse. I thought that was the greatest way to live and always wanted to have a treehouse of my own. But, we didn't have trees big enough to build one, so I just satisfied myself by climbing trees wherever I could (to my father's embarrassment).
A part of me still wishes I had a treehouse to sit in and look out over everything. How about you?

if i remember correctly, @ladyduck said the photo tends to tilt sideways when it's "too tall" if you understand what i mean. the site seems to prefer photos in landscape orientation vs. portrait.
that's four stories high? incredible! of course, i'd be scared if there was a storm!
until what age were you climbing trees? do you never have problems getting back down?

@hereandthere I climbed until my early teens, junior high. The only time I couldn't get down was when I was 4 or 5 and there was a spider on the tree below me and I wouldn't come down until the spider was gone. My mother killed it, but its body was there, so she had to go get the ladder to help me down. Otherwise, I never had any problems. Just being treed by a spider. I still hate spiders.

Do you have trees around you now that you can build one? It is very different tree house. I remember that story of them. I never had a tree house either and wish I did have one. I am not good at climbing so would have to have a ladder to get up there. It would have been nice to have a place of mine to go and be alone.
