Would you like to be respected or you want to be loved?

If you are boss, a teacher, a mentor, a friend which one would you rather have of these two? We know we can never demand respect from anyone as this is earned. Same thing with love, It is given freely. If I have to choose, I want to be loved because when you are loved surely respect follows. What are your thoughts on this?

I want to be loved because if you are loved, you are also respected. You can be respected not necessarily be loved.

@mlgen1037 Very well said Louise, yeah I was actually thinking. We can't ask for some respect but we can't love someone without respecting them as well.A little complicated sometime.

@chavezrmc Thank you, my dear Emerald. Yes, you are right. And respect is earned, unlike love where you it can be automatically given. I had a great time with them. But was really tired yesterday.

I agree with you, we have similar views , I want to be loved also . Because when they love you , they should respect you also.

I'd rather be respected than loved cause not everyone will love you. But you can earn people's respect in some ways.

True, respect is earned. But love is earned too. It will be given freely if you know the person you are giving it.
There are love without respect. That is the reason why there are battered women, wives and bullied people.
To learn how to respect is something one should know. Respect also comes from the heart just like love

You are right @rakski The love of spouses/couples or any of that sort can't go on without respect. They have to go together. I believe that you don't truly love someone if you don't give respect.
