How I try to enjoy Starbucks

I'm not really a coffee person, but I do love spending time in coffee shops. The aroma of coffee is a welcome thing and the pastries are a joy to have once in a while. Back when I was working for a software company, I would often go to Starbucks with colleagues for meetings or personal discussions. All of them would order coffee except for me. And they all thought I'm missing out a great deal. But that's okay, I'd tell them. I'm happy with tea, juice and a slice of cheesecake. And even now that I'm no longer with the corporate world, I'd still stop by Starbucks once in a while for some juice and pastries. I'd read a book or write in my journals while waiting for my kids' to be dismissed from school. I know I will always enjoy the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Somehow it already feels like I'm drinking it too.

The cheesecake in the photo looks good. I am Italian and I am a coffee lover, this is why I do not drink the coffee at Starbucks, I go where a barista knows how to make a real espresso.

@almostoveryou I was 6 years old when I started drinking coffee in the morning, before going to school.

@LadyDuck Oh wow! That young. I'm amazed. I wish I'd started young too. I could've developed more tolerance for caffeine.

You do know your coffee, for sure, and that's a good thing. :) Is it true that most Italians start drinking coffee/espresso at a very young age?

I'm not a coffee person either, I just don't get the appeal, so I don't feel like spending money on it either. I remember going to Starbucks and ordering this delicious chocolate-thing. I don't do it too often, because I'm guessing it was a lot of calories.

Oh I do drink coffee. But maybe once every two weeks -- 1/4 tsp of granules, 1 tbsp of muscovado sugar, and creamer or milk. It's a weak version of coffee but it gives me enough joy.

I like hot chocolate too. Drinking a cup on a cold day is like having a warm shawl draped on your shoulders.

I would've loved that combo too except that I'm lactose intolerant. I can't have the best of both worlds. :D

I don't patronize Starbucks, but I do like the smell if not the taste of fresh brewed coffee. I'm a tea drinker too.

@almostoveryou I like most herbals, Chai, green, black, orange, most teas. I've only run into two I don't like. One was an herbal.

I once had an Americano from Starbucks and I remember staying awake until 3 in the morning. I have tried their frapps too but ended up vomiting due to the high fat content of the whipped cream. I used to order decaf with soy milk and it's good. But I learned they have already removed the soy milk option here in the Philippines (not sure if it still is so...) Anyway, let's talk tea. What types of tea do you enjoy, Valerie? I like the herbal kinds.
