Ute Valley Park

After a few mental meltdowns, I have decided to back away from, what is, right now for me, an overwhelming world, and getting back to some things that I love but have gotten away from. Suddenly, after rediscovering my old account on the hiking/camping website, Tripleblaze.com, I have reacquainted myself with my obsession with hiking trails and areas I've never hiked before, and documenting it through photos that I upload to that website. The other morning, I headed to a place I've never been, Ute Valley Park, located in Northwest Colorado Springs. I have no idea why I've never been there, but I haven't. And while a lady was just recently rescued from Ute Valley after getting bit by a snake, I overcame my intense snake phobia, and hiking I went. There are roughly eight miles of trails in Ute Valley Park, but I stuck to just one of them, the highly technical, aptly named, Black and Blue Loop. I am guessing that I got in about four miles of hiking, and took quite a few photos to post on Tripleblaze. The above photo is a good example of the trail, although there were a lot of sections that were quite difficult due to the technical aspects. All in all, it was a fun hike. (Info verified by the City of Colorado Springs official website)
Monday afternoon, a woman was bitten by a rattlesnake at the Ute Valley Park and had to be airlifted to a Penrose Hospital with a suspected rattlesnake bite.

That's really great that you are back to doing what you used to enjoy. Sometimes we get side tracked of things. I too just got back to my crafting yesterday and I'm trying to practice water colouring again. I have decided to make some work of art and use that to decorate our walls instead of buying expensive decors.

That's a good idea. I'm not very artistic, so I couldn't really pull that off. I have to stick to outdoorsy stuff!

Not a hiker, but I bet it is a great way to exercise and take in nature!

It definitely is. Quite peaceful, unless the trails are crowded. Which is why I try to avoid hiking or mountain biking on the weekends if I can.

@dgobucks226 - Yep. Except at the ballpark. Ballgames are always more fun with a full house.

I am not much of a hiker only perhaps short trails when I travel. It is a very peaceful and challenging experience.

I like it, even though I prefer mountain biking, I try to mix in as much hiking as I can, but I had gotten away from it for awhile. I've even rediscovered that I like camping, which I had lost after I got out of the Army, figuring that I'd gotten all of that out of my system after all the time that our unit spent in the field.

@teamfreak16 I like camping but haven't done it for several years. Maybe it is time to return to it.

@Freelanzer - We've been enjoying it. We bought a van and camp around the area when we can, although we haven't been in a month or two.

Looks like a cool and peaceful trail to get away from it all.

It is. The trail wasn't marked at one point at a road. I did find a trail on the other side of the road that looped around, but had no idea where to go when I got back to the road. Luckily, a mountain biker came through, so I followed him and eventually looped back around to my van. Good adventure!

I am so far. I'm realizing how much I've missed it.
