I did it!

I feel like a regular auto mechanic right now. Well, maybe not, but I did successfully replace a fog lamp bulb in my truck a few minutes ago. I actually watched a couple of YouTube videos about similar vehicles, and then went for it. It took about 15 minutes, and could probably be done in five by someone who knows what they're doing. Directions: Remove the three screws that hold the bumper liner (or whatever it's called) to the bumper. Peel back the bumper liner to expose the fog lamp assembly. Unplug the old bulb from the wires that lead away from it. Remove the old bulb by twisting slightly to the left. Put in new bulb, twist to the right, reattach wires, and take care not to touch the glass of the bulb itself. Put everything back together and voila! I think the most interesting part for me was using some of my guitar glue to try and fix a crack in the lens (the part that rocks like to hit). The glue is designed to spread and fill, but dries in only about 20 seconds. My hunch is that moisture has been getting into this fog lamp assembly, causing quicker burnout of the bulb on that side. I'll attach a picture I took of the "inside" to a comment, if I get some.

And....you save how many dollars...wow...one thing I would love to learn is such assembling stuff. Our education is so rotten.

@TheHorse Shocked...that is big sum out here..lol. Almost 1/3rd monthly expense. Here, you could get mechanic to do the job for $10 or less.

@vandana7 It was fun to learn from the experience. But for $10, I might let someone else do it.

I probably saved somewhere between $50 and $100. Mechanics charge you just to touch your car.

@TheHorse Yes I've seen your discussions when I'm here but I have responded only to those I could relate to. But you would know that since you see me in yours.

Well good for you. I never did figure out how to do all that but hey I'm more into tech than mechanical dillybobs.

For me the tech I'm good at is learning how to use apps like Excel or Paint @TheHorse otherwise if it's something to do with removing viruses I'd need to call someone like Ken as well.

@TheHorse No, I do not believe so, he did when he was young and the cars less sophisticated. He built his own go-carts when he was young, it's not that he is not capable to do those things. He does not care anymore.

@LadyDuck I didn't grow up with cars as a hobby, like the rural kids did, so I continue to learn about cars into middle age.
