Not even a thank you?

So I'm pulling into the gas station, and a pickup truck with a boat pulls into the same row from the other direction. He starts shaking his head at me and motions for me to back up. So I decide to be nice and go to an empty row. He pulls all the way forward as he was apparently tanking the boat, not the truck. So I'm standing in the sun, thinking he could have at least said "thank you". I was so tempted to shout "you're welcome". Should I have?

Hi TheRealDawn. There are people who were not raised with courtesy and manners.

@dawnald Thank you. Parents have to see to it that their children learned that.

Some people! I have to bite my tongue from shouting "You're Welcome!" when I hold the door for people going into and / or out of places. I've even let people go ahead of me in line because I have more than they do and I don't get a "thank you" sometimes. I would have said "you're welcome." People need to realize they aren't entitled.

When I was leaving, they had left the boat there and walked down to the grocery store, so they were blocking two pumps for who knows how long.

@dawnald I would have alerted the gas station attendant of that for sure.

Hey, girl! Where have you been hiding? Nice to see you're still around. As for that boor, why did he think he had the right to make you back up?

@dawnald So, are you gonna stick around? It's your fault I came back.

Remaining silent is the only good thing to do, in light of the latest news reports of hot headed people behaving violently at the drop of the hat. You did the right thing by not instigating a bad reaction. Don't tempt fate with strangers.

I would have. I actually did once coz this truck driver wouldn't stop honking the horn. It was a busy road and he was lacking in patience. I guess so was I. so I told him to stop the honking.

Oh you should have said you're welcome. I have done that so many times to so many people who just don't know how to say thank you.

Yeah, two guys, and little old me, decided I didn't want to deal with any unpleasantness.

@dawnald Would they really do something bad to you if you did?

I'd let it be. Though, you'd think the man would say thank you. Side note: Was he already there but just trying to reverse multiple times to properly tank the boat?

I do that sometimes, lol. I say "you're welcome" when I don't hear a "thank you" from someone who asked me for a favor.
