Brazil are into their seventh straight World Cup Q/F but just one semi final since winning it in 2002. But this team looks very strong at the back and a rather feeble Mexican side up front went down to a perfunctory 2-0 defeat today, goals for Neymar and Firmino. But the day was dominated by an amazing game between the fancied Belgium side and outsiders Japan. Japans tactics caught Belgium out and they were two nil up before Belgium could react. But Belgium have a good manager and very good players and as soon as the switch was made they pilled on the pressure.with 34 minutes to go. At this point Japan needed to play some ugly football and slow the game down and sit on the two goal lead. They didnt, rather naively still going forward. Vertonghen scored a fluke header and then the Belgium wingers lashed in cross after cross to the tall Fellani and he headed in with 10 minutes to go. Japan thought back and had half chances to level but looked tired. With extra time 20 seconds away the Belgium goalkeeper didn't smother the ball but hurld it out and Belgium scored one of the best World Cup goals ever on the break and won 3-2. An Incredible game of football! Brazil v Mexico Friday 7pm.
