Vicious Thunderstorm today

Just how the lightning seemed as the storm hung around.

With gusts of wind of up to 70, a storm took its time moving through our town today knocking out power to thousands of homes in our region and several hundred in town. Our power stayed on, but our landlord's house was hit by lightning where the power came into the house and knocked down their power line. Since their phones, internet and television are brought in by the same service provider, they are literally in the dark until their power can be restored. And, as hot as it is, with them being elderly, I hope they have a place to be in this heat. Meanwhile, in less than an hour and a half, this storm supposedly dropped several inches on our small city. The usual areas flooded, but more intensely, deeper and covering a wider area. Then, the lightning started a fire at an elementary school one town away. The winds picked up our patio table and flipped it over smashing the brand new umbrella underneath it and blew the older umbrella into our back door. Lightning hit the playground of the school next door just as my daughter was coming into the house. She had been sitting in her car hoping to wait out the rain, but gave up. There were so many close strikes, it was one heck of a storm. There were also tornado warnings to the west and north of us. I can believe it!

We're all OK. Wind damage and lightning damage in places, but no one that I know of hurt.

These strong winds and storms are very devastating, in fact last week we had a storm which has destroyed many trees on the farm along with some constructions at our place! I can understand how bad you must be feeling with this weather there! Stay blessed!

I'm glad we didn't have it that bad, but it can be more than inconvenient to find things you just bought destroyed. I'm glad my landlord's house didn't catch fire.

We are just fine. It was a surprise how much rain fell when we finally heard, but I even went out for dinner after it passed.

We're all OK. I don't know of any injuries, although there may have been auto accidents I don't know about. At least my landlord's house didn't catch fire.

Two blocks behind us got the flooding. It always floods in a heavy rain, but this time the area of water was much much larger. Thankfully, we don't have whole towns under water.
