Could have and didn't

I could have talked hubby into driving about an hour West to a little town that has a Fourth of July celebration. I could have talked him into us going into town to tonight to a fireworks display. Instead we stayed home and watched the musical film 1776. That's a heart felt reenactment of the first Congress- traitors to Britain- should we get a Declaration of Independence going? We could hang! Its funny in spots and tragic in others- "Mama! I do die!" (Lexington Green) We picked more raspberries this morning. Wind gusts are picking up. I sincerely hope the folks having barbecues are keeping a close eye on their hot grills and sparks and such cause its fire danger season. Some folks are crying more than laughing about fire danger right now. I hope your families are enjoying this Fourth of July. We'll do our best to keep our fur crew from looking out the windows tonight. Seeing those pretty fireworks creates deep anxiety and fear in the pups. Its not just the bangs. Its those unexplained lights that create havoc for the girls.

Oh yes they are very sensitive to noises so I heard. I hope they will be all good tonight.

I guess each kritter is different, Ally could care less about the bangs but I don't know if she'd react to the stupid sky lights whereas the cats are all kinda freaked out right now because of those stupid loud bangs that sound like they are right over head. I hope everyone of those aholes that are setting off those loud fireworks has to go to the front lines of a war, maybe then they'll get enough of all that stupid banging. I'm fed up with it.

@rebelann I'm writing a discussion about this year's hilarity.

I'm sorry your fur babies don't like the fireworks. My dog could care less it seems. It never bothers her-nothing seems to really.

@LovingMyBabies Its really not that noisy out in the country where I live. Last year I shut our biggest dog in a back room and she suddenly forced the door open. She was a hysterical mess. I realized that she could see fireworks lighting the sky from that room and of course had no way to understand that they were harmless.

We had a great 4th of July, my dogs have never been bothered by the fireworks, I am not quite sure why but we have had lots of dogs and cats and it has never bothered any of them.

Happy Fourth of July. We don't travel the half hour into town to see fire works on July First. Partly because they don't set them off until after 11 as it is so light out.

My friend, who has pooches, has these pills that she calls "puppy prozac." I don't know where she got them, whether from the vets or online, but it helps keep them calm. I hope your girls will be okay and hopefully their won't be too many fireworks going on near you.

I hope you're able to keep the dogs under wraps tonight or maybe it's all over already. Hope you had a good evening anyway.

Fireworks creates deep fear in cats. I have a cat and it's terrified. The noise is so strong.

I remember our dog who hides under bed when hearing the big bang of fireworks. Happy fourth of July!
