Work at home - The New Normal?

United States

With social media being the way for almost everyone to communicate, people are mostly using it to get paid working from home. I've been trying to find a way to financial independence the same way, but there's a lot of competition out there and it's not easy. Even though there are many ways to make money money "working from home", it takes time to actually get paid to do it. Also, mostly you might have to pay out-of-pocket if you want to monetize your blogs &/or websites quickly. I've been trying the "free" way to get traffic to my blog(s) instead of paying for help on the internet. Of course, before that I've paid for "advice" &/or courses to get help but they didn't pan out. Every time I think I may have an "ah hah" moment, something else pops up in my life that may distract me from following through... This website has been helpful to stay motivated. But I know that I need to keep on pushing.

Just keep blogging. Don't think of it as an income earner but a place to enjoy and display your writing prowess.

@SIMPLYD Yes. Easier said than done, tho, when I'm struggling financially even though I enjoy writing. I have to find an outlet that will eventually create some form of income. Thank you for the encouragement, though

Almost anybody can work from home online. It's the getting to earn a good salary that takes time. Prayfully, I will get there

I could only work at home for an employer paying me a good salary and benefits. Creating blogs and trying to get traffic, just does not interest me!

It IS a tough gig, that's for sure. But like you pretty much said, with a little bit of research, hard work, intestinal fortitude, and determination, at least there is the possibility of getting closer to the end goal. One thing I always recommend is for people to not spend the money they make doing these things, but rather to save that money away. It becomes money that earns for a virtual lifetime and provides more longer term benefits that way. ESPECIALLY since it so hard to earn anything worthwhile in the short term, if you can find a way to keep it and earn from it after you get it, it makes the whole thing all that much more worth it.

I don't think earning online can ever be the same as offline, but who knows luck is on your side and you find your means to earn more. If you choose that path, go for it. I'm just here for coffee money.

@ihasaquestion lol. coffee money. That does about sum it up for this site. Though I know there's other ways to make money online. My point was that even though people work offline, they may still work from home online as a side hustle. Due to the economy almost no one can survive off just one offline job, and finding extra cash income online may be the "new normal".

I agree. Working from home is a good option but it takes time to finally earn some money online. I hope you'll succeed.

Put some hard work into it and you will get there. Maybe you should sit down and start to plan on what it is that you actually want to do. And then focus on that plan. I was like you at one time, uncertain of what to do because I have so many things that I wanted to do that I got stuck with all my ideas and not knowing which one to proceed with first. I think your mind should be focused on one thing at a time. I firstly started with one thing, then I move on to another, and then to the next. If something else pops up in life, consider it as a motivation to keep you moving forward and not a distraction.
