The Ultra Groovy Day

It has been an entire day of, as John Denver called it, Colorado Rocky Mountain High. I am writing to you from a small RV campground in Golden, Colorado, home of the Coors Brewery, and the town in which I have seen Blue Oyster Cult twice (once even getting a high five from vocalist/guitarist Eric Bloom before the encore of a Halloween show!) Anyway, Golden is located in the foothills west of Denver. We hung out in Denver last night, hoping to get a campsite at one of the three State Parks located in the metro area this morning, but they are all full. So we drove up here to Golden, to hang out for the day, and we stumbled upon a small RV campground located a couple blocks from Downtown. They were full, but they do have three tent sites, one of which was available. Long story short, we are here for three nights. Back up a couple hours, though. We hit a recreational marijuana shop in the Denver suburb of Edgewater. In Colorado Springs, the City Council was strongarmed by the Mayor into not allowing the sale of the stuff within the city. Manitou Springs is the only city in the county that sells it. And as we learned this morning, Manitou is taking full advantage of the situation. Basically, we bought an ounce of weed for less than we can get a half ounce in Manitou. And we got a couple of cool stickers for our van. So now, I'm sitting here relaxing, drinking beer and toking up. I hope to crash long and hard tonight, sleep late, and go hang out down at the creek that runs along the campground. God, I love this state!
