The Rat Race

At times hubby and I have looked for a job like my dad and his wife Charlotte had. They picked up deliveries of specially bred laboratory animals that were kept in sterile conditions. They always had to sanitize the company provided vehicle if I remember correctly. They worked together, were paid well and had benefits. I always joked that my dad was a member of the rat race. They delivered to large universities with medical schools. I am not sure I could have done the job, though.

That kind of job I could not do, I'd want to free those poor lab rats. Maybe you could find a job where the two of you delivered groceries or maybe did the shopping for those who don't have time to do it themselves, I've read a few articles about people doing things like that. That way one person drives and the other goes to the door with the goods.

I think I would want to free them too. He is going to be delivering autos among car lots soon, on an as needed basis. I do not know if I would be able to go along.

I don't think I would have liked that job, as the animals would be destined to be experimented on.

Yes. The realist in me knows that it is necessary, though.

They treated them well and gave them lots of good perks. They got to travel the country. I just would feel sorry for the rats. And guinea pigs.

They were a good team. Eventually they got too old, though.

They enjoyed being together and seeing the country. Texas, New Mexico, and I am not sure where else.

Years ago I tried to get the job of washing up lab glassware but since I was an English major not a science major they wouldn't give me consideration.
