I saw a snake last night.

I saw a snake last night. As I walked home through my garden I saw it glide out of my front door that I had left open. I had nothing to throw at it, nothing to defend myself with if it chose to come my way. I froze, too frightened to run. The vile looking serpent slipped noiselessly into the bushes and disappeared. Now I have to keep al my doors and windows closed all the time which I hate doing. I prefer to have a breeze blowing through the house at all times, especially at night. I like the house being filled with the scent of the bushes and flowers in the garden, but I'm not prepared to risk snakes invading my home, especially while I'm asleep. I have no choice. There is nowhere to relocate to.

This things happens with me as I am staying on the farm. One poisonous snake Cobra got accidentally entrapped in the aluminum door frame and we had to do lot of efforts to get him out safely and to leave him to nature!

@RvSinh , No we managed to take him out and left him in the wild but I think since it got injured that might have reduced the chances of his survival!

that sounds so scary indeed. I sure hope the snake does not decide to go inside your house. Keep safe

There is not a venomous snake in Guadeloupe, they are all harmless and protected animals. What you describe seems to be a grass snake, they are shy and it was probably more afraid than you.

@topffer Probably you are correct, but I'm still very much afraid of them. Too many bad experiences elsewhere.

The last snake I saw was a bright red snake, I have to retreat in another direction. Lucky it ignored me.

You might spray some Carbolic Acid around your house..... we usually do that during rainy seasons to fend off snakes.... stay safe

Be careful of looking down on animals because in some cultures, people worship animals like monkey, elephant and snake. Some snakes don't even wish to be where they are. They are at ease with nature. So chill, and think if you're a snake, will you also be there?
