Creepiest Heard Childhood Stories

I grow up in a suburban town of Toledo. When I was younger, toddler to early teens, my town was much less populated. Back then the only thing that creeps me out (until now actually, sometimes) and my siblings (I'm sure the kids in the neighborhood too) were dark elemental creatures or evil spirits that our elders share stories about. My dad's mom(my late grandmother) was a faith healer and her third eye is open. It is said that if one's third eye is open, he or she can see the other creatures existing that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The creepiest stories I have heard about my dad before is when he was still single, working at 2nd shift and in a mining company. He goes home around 1 o'clock in the morning and arrives around 2AM in their house. There were few incidents actually that creeps me out about what he experienced before but I will just be sharing one. There's one time he was walking few minutes away from their home already when he was chased by a huge black winged silhoutte flapping. He was hastily knocking on the door so my grandma can open him quickly. Catching his breath, the huge bird was forcing its way to destroy the wall. Half of their house's wall before towards the ceiling was made up of decorative bricks, it has intricate holes so air can pass easily in and out making the interior temperature cool. My grandma told my dad he needs to calm down and go to the kitchen and eat (the creature still trying to smash the wall, trying to barge in). When my dad went to the kitchen, it followed him there from the outside and kept smashing the walls again. He called grandma who was in the living room and she told my dad, that "thing" is looking for trouble and desperate for something. She knows what to do and proceeds to utter a latin prayer (as what my dad said). My dad said the "thing" suddenly sounded like it was mauled causing it to be in pain. Around after a minute, a very quiet night takes place. He just continud to eat. What story can you recall?

I remember a strange incident that happened. We lived out in the country. One day, our neighbor's two hunting dogs came running down the path, yelping and crying. They ran far under the house and would not come out. Then, a riderless horse came galloping past. We grabbed the reins and stopped the horse. A bit later, our neighbor came limping to the house. He told quite a tale. He was riding with the dogs. The hairs on his neck stood on end and he got a big chill. Whatever it was also scared the dogs. They started whimpering and running. Then the horse spooked and threw him off. The dogs would not come out from under the porch for two days. What was it that scared the dogs and horse and our neighbor? Was it something of this earth or otherworldly? We will never know.

it's more likely not our kind and should've been belonging to the other dimension. they kinda have this advantage over us because they can see us but most of us don't see them and just feel them. that's really spooky.

@ayuzawa that is quite scary indeed. anyway, since it is morning now.. i can recall it So we were in high school when she told this to us. She was walking home at 6 pm ish when she saw a black limousine along the way. There was a gray haired woman standing near it wearing a black dress. My friend had no choice but to go nearer since it was the only way to her house. So as she went nearer, she noticed that the lady had a blurry face without a nose which creeped her out. So she ran to her house. Basically that was the reason she told us why she did not want to go home late anymore.

@lady1993 it could be a ghost or a bad spirit. the university and high school campus i was in before have those creepy ghost stories where faceless people roams around the corrider when it gets dark. Since that is a catholic school, most alumni would often told about the headless priest and faceless nun. At the university when i was in college, there's this very old building was told to be dungeons way back world war 2. Some students would see ghost soldiers that would disappear to thin air there at dark.

For me is the fish seller. I heard this story from my aunt when I was a kid. When Mother and my Aunt was pregnant (with me and with my cousin), they encounter a very strange thing with someone, she is a fish seller. During those time, people here already sleep at 8 PM. So that means, you can't see people walking or staying outside their house. One strange night, at exactly 10 in the evening, it was very quiet because people are sleeping already. They heard someone still selling fish. She was shouting about her fish she sells. My Mother and Aunt got curious, why at this time of the night someone still sells fish? Then they observe that their bulky stomach was moving, babies are moving inside their tummy. They feel un-comfort about it everything the fish seller shouts. So what they did, they cover their tummy with black clothes. And the babies stopped moving. Also, they can't hear the fish seller anymore. They told their husband about it. One time, the husband of my Aunt came home early while my Father is not home. At exactly 10 PM they heard the fish seller again, this time my Uncle check who is that fish seller who sells fish in the evening. He saw it on his own eye, a PIG head woman wearing Bakya (wooden shoes). He doesn't understand the feeling, his knees tremble. It must be aswang (ghost) he saw.

so creepy! I think pregnant women here are quite prone to "aswang" until these days. I do have my own experience in my sister's boarding house too. I stayed with her when I just got hired from an offline work. She was travelling that time with friends in Davao and I was left alone for the whole weekend. I swear, twice a night at around 1am and 2am. I would woke up and hear huge birds flapping, quite impossible for chicken to flap it's wings steadily so i'm sure it's something creepy outside. We are in the middle of the city, our room was in the ground floor and it was a four-storey building. The flapping stays for almost around a minute, it will suddenly be gone when I pray fervently. When my sister arrived the next week, I told her about it and she told me there's two pregnant women in the building. One stays next to our room and the other was above our room. She was creeped out too when the caretaker's daughter told her mom about it and opened up to my sister if she heard it. My sister told them about what I heard those nights. The reason why the caretaker asked is because of the wires placed around the back gate the following day on that weekend. It's very disturbing scene, 3 barb wire that was placed on top of the concrete gate that was so high was pulled like someone tried to get in.

@JustBhem yes kikik it is. they said planting citrus will mask the pregnant woman's scent or a citrus that has huge thorns. For some who doesnt have they get those thorns and put them on the windows or around the house. the pregnant women in the boarding house were then advised to put garlic, salt and those thorns. Never heared those creepy creatures again but I also have other experience besides that, in our room. I think that boarding house was just haunted.

@ayuzawa Scary. It happens here too. We have 2 pregnant women a week ago, one is my cousin and the other one is our neighbor. Since 4th Brother always comes home late, he heard something unusual sound coming from somewhere, the sound was not so loud, looks like it's coming from afar. He thought there's a bird making love or something. She told my Mother the next morning, and Mother said it was something else. We called it KIKIK or aswang (ghost kind, not ours).
