Staying Close With My Kids

Many had said that best gift that parents can give their children is their time, not just only time but quality time.
The best parent-child bonding time is one that is unstructured, spontaneous and promotes critical thinking. So rather than sticking to a certain procedure, we can make do like some art projects or any creative stuffs we can do at home.
With my children, we do play board games a lot like scrabble or word games. I have also introduced them with ice breakers. These are deck of cards which contain questions, fill in the blanks or consequence. We do take turns picking one card and do what is written there. This form of activity builds their confidence in communication and develop their critical thinking as well. I do sometimes help them so they can give more opinions on it. Somehow it also strengthens our relationship. Surprisingly, each one of them becomes open about their thoughts and feeling about certain topics.
If we have more time, we also do scrapbooking, sorting old toys, singing, dancing and reading books together.
There are a lot of ways in which we can share our quality time with our children.

Hi Cheri. How are you? Once I have my kids, I will want to stay as close to them and have more bonding time. I heed your advice.

@cherigucchi I do agree on that. It wasn't perfect but we always think family first.

That is good. As a parent we should be more creative playing with the kids and do not depend much on internet or gadgets.

I love to do those also with my daughter, sadly, I don't have the luxury of time. We just have some cool moment during Sundays but I think it is not enough to guide her.

I understand. I also missed at times but I am always trying to make up with the lost time.
