I was about to start to watch my movie. You all know about that. Then Claudia called me from Spain. She said "Don´t worry, Mami, but a thief stole my wallet with all my credit cards". That was the beginning of a lot of calls and work for me. The girl had 4 credit cards and 1 debit card ALL in the same wallet. And where were they? At the beach. No comments. I blocked the cards one by one here. I had to explain by phone that I was Claudia´s mother. One of the girls on the phone even asked me her birthdate. I had to tell her to wait I calculate my daughters´ birthdate from the year I was married. Then Claudia asked me to get into her Bank account to see if anyone had taken money from the cards. Nothing had been taken. The thief had also stolen everyone´s IC. They had their passports though. Why on earth did they take all that to the beach? I have been talking to Claudia all evening. She had to go to the cops in Spain to get a certificate that said that she was robbed. I haven´t seen the movie yet. I´ll wait a little longer, when I know that Claudia is asleep. I am sorry about that, but glad that no money has been taken from the cards, though she will have lots of work to do when she returned home. I am not sure about Spain or Chile, but here in my country, I don't think we dare to leave our wallets or any precious belongings unattended, they can just be gone within a short while.

@marguicha I understand that. My younger sister lost her mobile phone twice just within one or two weeks. I guess they will eventually learn, and it's good that no one got hurt. I also think it's good that they still believe the world and the people are good and beautiful.

@kaka135 I think it was my son in law´s fault. But my daughter doesn´t want anyone to rub it in as he fees badly about it.

I would never do that either. I think that they were very naive. I will not say anything to them, but they were lucky.

How awful! I remember when I was young and got my purse stolen. What a headache!

Maybe they didn't feel safe leaving that stuff at their hotel?

I don´t know. I think my daughter´s husband is VERY stubborn. They were lucky, after all. But their hotel is not as safe as the ones I get now. And that´s another thing. I could have gotten them a good hotel that was not very expensive WITH a safe.

That was a distressing call. A sour note on Claudia's trip.

I know. But fortunately, no money was taken from the cards before they were blocked. Still, she will have a lot of work when she comes back, starting by getting her IC without which she will not be able to get credit cards

Oh dear, losing the passport is a bad thing. Lucky that you could block all those bank cards.

They lost their national ID cards, but not the passports. They can get them here when they return.

Later on, we talked about how I could send her some money. She can pay me when she comes back.
