It is kind of quiet

I am sitting here with dad. Before my brother goes to the auction his wife's family is having, he needed to go with one of his church members to the hospital. The surgery she is having is taking quite a while. I will get dad out and go to McDonald's or someplace tonight . He is not interested in a lot of things and is confused and forgetful. I read an Agatha Christie book since yesterday. It was actually one I had not read before. That surprises me. I am trying not to be online too much but be available for dad.

I wish you all the best knowing how hard this is on you. I hope he has a time of complete cognitivity so he can tell you how much you mean to him.

He is kind, and affectionate, and knows who I am. He wanders the hallways of his own past and we talk about it. Some of his memories are not clear to me, like either a house across the street from his childhood home burned and his mother forgot one of the kids or the mother in that house forgot a child and had to go back in. Dad was one of seven kids, only one other sister still is living, She is in Oregon.

@GardenGerty I wish my Mom would share her childhood memories. I love your description about your father. My Mom mainly pines for her childhood home, thinking she is just a block or so away. I'd love to get a better picture of that time.

I have read many Agatha Christie books in the past months, a few very different from her usual style. I have enjoyed.

I wish I had more with me. I have not read much for quite a while, but I always enjoy things she has written. I am using my time to catch up on some paperwork that I have.

I did not visit enough with my mom at the end of her time. I have always regretted it.

When I set with people I will take the laptop with me and sit with them in the room, when they ask what I am doing I will make up a lovely story, that I am reading, most are okay with that

He is reading on his Kindle, I am online and also I am catching up on some file organizing. We have a television show on about the San Diego Zoo. They keep the television on about 18 hours a day, I think. He is used to the noise and misses it if I turn it off.

You know, in many ways he was a good man. Not perfect, but hopefully we are good because he was as well.
