I Found a lost dog

United States
July 13, 2018 1:17pm CST
Our area is one that dogs get dumped, or they just seem to get lost. The intersection is very busy, and several have been hit by cars. A little dog was out there, I could see a tag on his neck, so i tried to catch him, and they picked him up, looked at the tag, and it was the number to the shelter. I called it and oh my gosh , all automated, and go round and round in the system. Why can't there be a live person. Finally got someone, they gave me the owners, first name and phone number. I called the number, the man did not speak English. He put someone else on the phone and they took my address, and came quick. The dog lived about 3 blocks away and had wandered away , and was lost. I am glad he came fast, it was a very good little dog.

People just don't lock up their pets safely, and they wander away, But I am always on the look out, i walk so much, I know which dogs belong on a few blocks, and where they belong. A knew face shows up every now and then, I will help them get back to the owner.

You are a good person to have taken care of that dog. Too many people would just ignore it.

Yes, it would be better to have your number on it so you could be reached faster. This person had the shelters number. So yes in order to get your dog back to you a tag is important.

I'm so happy you rescued that cute little dog and saved its life. Dog owners should be much more responsible, especially those that live on busy streets. I hope they don't let their toddlers out alone!

so glad this ended well. he looks like a chihuahua. this is the first time i've seen a black and white one. it would be tempting to keep him because he's so cute and well behaved. but as you said he has a tag, which is good because he was returned.

My chi was black and white, kind of looked like that one. I haven’t seen him again which is a good thing. Maybe the owner is keeping him in now,

I have a dog and several cats, so would have been a bit of work for me, The next thing , he had a collar with the shelter number, which means he is most likely with a chip. So if he ever got sick, and I take to a vet, the chip will alert them to the correct owner.
