useful bacteria

Well, bacteria are the prokaryotes which have occupied every possible habitat on this planet. As there are two aspects of a coin similar is with bacteria too i.e they are good and bad both. In fact, 85% of the bacteria are "good "and only 15% of these are considered "bad. But this 15 % are capable of causing havoc."Now, let us emphasize on "good bacteria".These bacteria are present inside our body precisely in our intestines and are called as probiotics. These help in proper digestion of the food. These help precisely in the absorption of antioxidants obtained from fruits and vegetables help in the production of vitamin K and B12, biotin and help in the absorption of certain fibres which are the storehouse of the energy. The bacteria not only help a person individually but also a society at large as these help in various industries for the production of cheese, vinegar, medicines like antibiotics, drugs, fibre retting etc. For example, Clostridium butyricum helps in the separation of fibres in jute, hemp and flax. Similarly many bacterial plasmids are employed in genetic engineering process to generate human insulin required for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, Human growth factor etc. Likewise bacteria called Escherichia coli is used for the industrial production of vitamins like riboflavin and vitamin K.Bacteria like Rhizobium are found in the root nodules of leguminous plants and help in the natural fixation of nitrogen.
