Day 9 Mark 6:7-13 Mark 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; 8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: 9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats. 10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. 11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. 12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent. 13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. Many religious denominations send people out by twos to bring the Word to the people. Many will go into the downtown districts and stand on street corners handing out tracts and talking to whoever will listen. Jesus sent his disciples out two by two to bring his Word to the people and bring healing as well. As Christians, you are encouraged to go and tell. Is it easy? No, many people will slam the door in your face, or pass you by. Jesus told his disciples to shake the dust off their feet for a testimony against the person who would not welcome the gospel message. Taking the gospel to the people, takes the message beyond the four walls of the church. It causes you to be all God told you to be for him, and not expect someone else to do the work of the kingdom. Jesus told his disciples the fields were ready for harvest, but the laborers were few. Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. Will you go to the harvest field? Will you bring the message to the people? Let’s pray: Father, help me take your message to the people. Give me the words to speak, and a willing heart to go. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 15 July 2018 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I often wonder when people tell those offering to share the Word with them to go away, is it because they really are not interested or are they scared that the person might be a criminal. In this day and age, you never know. I have not heard of anyone posing as Christians and using that to get into someone's home to rob them, etc.

I'm quite sure it's because they're not interested. I simply tell them I'm a Christian, so I'm not interested in what they're doing. They say it's good, and go away.

@Daelii I think I would have too. They were being disrespectful to you.

@just4him I've had a few that reacted rather rudely when I said I was catholic. It seemed like it lit a fire behind them to "cleanse me". one even called that a heathen's faith. So I must admit, I have slammed the door a few times in my days.

Amen! Then here comes some guilt and shame for not being more respectful to those that did go around knocking on doors!

We do need to be respectful, even when we aren't willing to listen to what they say. I simply tell them I don't need converting, I'm already a Christian and I go to church every Sunday. Have a blessed day.
