...PET?” I had laughed hard for asking this question. It was really a simple question. But, it resulted in a blooper situation. Let me go straight to my story. I was having a class with a kid and the topic is all about animals. I had asked the question if he has a pet and said, “Yes, teacher. I have lots of fish.” Out of the blue, I asked a follow-up question: “Do they have names?” He was surprised and I laughed about it. It was an icebreaker to make the class lively.LOL
“Do you give names to your fish pet?”
“Is it silly to give pet names to fishes?”

I used to keep a fish, but I didn't name it. Sometimes we need to break the ice in class. You did well, dear friend.

@caopaopao I think it depends on what type of students.

@Shavkat That's a good state. As far as I know, students don't like teachers who are too serious.

I think that is a very good question Shavkat. I think everyone that has a pet should give them a name. Sophie came to me with a name that I did not think was fitting for her so changed her name to Sophie. She looks like a Sophie to me. She is a very alert girl and when she wants to listens to me when I talk to her.

I do think we need to give names to our pets. Even the people who work in the zoo, they give the animals' names. In a science context, every living thing has scientific names. The only difference is that we give them names based on the animals' personalities.

My ex had fish, but he didn't give them names. If I had one fish I might give it a name, but if there were too many fish I probably wouldn't be able to remember the names

@Shavkat One of my friends had an aquarium with many different species. It was huge - almost from one end of the room to the other end. I don't think that he gave them names, but it was fun watch them all.

@Porcospino Personally, I think it is not advisable, especially if the fish have the same species. Literally, ti would be a nosebleed for me.

It depends on the number of fish. If it is goldfish, I will name it, golda.

I don't have fish as pet but it would be fun if we give them names as well.

I think no. Especially if it is one fish but what if it is a school of 100 fishes. And they all look like the same. ha ha

Yes, I had a fish called Noella as she was a Christmas gift. Then later we bought some plants for her tank and all of a sudden there was another fish in the tank. We got the plants from a pet shop and it turns out that one of them had eggs on them and Angel was the only one that hatched.
