Ever had a bright idea then found out Someone else already thought about it?

How would you feel if YOU came up with a brilliant new idea, on your own, without having heard about it from anyone else, but later found out that your idea was not actually original? Somebody else thought of that SAME idea long before you did! Would you feel like a failure? Would you feel like you were behind the times? I am an ideas person myself, but I often come up with a new idea then I Google it to find out if SOMEONE ELSE wrote about it already and posted their IDEA online. For instance, I had a silly idea of a computer program to predict what type of civilization we might have in a hundred years from now, based on the population, the political houses of office in power in the different countries, and the natural and man made resources and raw materials available on the planet. But, because these intangibles as well as tangibles are so generalized and non specific or non determined, you might be hard pressed to come up with a computer program or algorithm that could be used as your future models. So, since I thought of this idea, I did a Google search and came up with one of many articles that are actually about this idea. Have you given up on your own ideas simply because either you think they were too unrealistic or likely you were not the first person to think of it?

While researching freezing blood, I found out how it is possible to turn blood green and was doing a short Sci-Fi story on it, when the same idea turned up on CSI. A bit miffed, but I had fun picking holes in their story!

@lookatdesktop one of those 'what ifs', but I still have the research so you never know...

I appreciate your views about the your own ideas turning as not the new ones but they already existed. Yes I faced such situations while treating some horses and I was very happy thinking that I have come up with some new technique but when referred about it in the text books that was already there! But then instead of getting dishearten I felt happy that I could conceive that idea all by myself!

Yes indeed. You thought it through and came up with the same solution as had been done by another who shared his with others so because you were thoughtful and rational, you shared the same solution to a similar problem.
