Good Thursday morning to all. Today is the grand opening of a super mall here in the city. It is actually located about 1 and 1/2 kilometers from where I live. The other mall that opened last year is about 3 kilometers far from our house. Everybody here is excited. The mall 's interiors are so overwhelmingly beautiful. Local stars will come to grace the opening at 10AM. But what is this? There is also a grand power interruption from 8am to 6pm. Netizens are dismayed and tell everyone that the blackout is purposefully done so everybody will go to the mall which will have electricity. Do you think that is the reason? I believe it is.

You have blackouts almost every day, so I do not believe that this is the reason.

No. Not everyday. Scheduled power interruption is after every 2 weeks except when there are unexpected problems like tripping of lines. We have preventive maintenance power interruptions because our dams are below the water level to generate electricity.

@LadyDuck yes, but it is the unscheduled power interruptions that get the people here rant over these. also the scheduled ones can have extended time or shortened time. and when we have the power back, it is also the internet that goes blank. hahaha

1.5 kilometers? wow!!! The mall here in my province is 20+ kilometers away from our house... And it's a small one. I also want to see SM or Robinson's in the province. Maybe that isn't the reason why you will have power interruption today.

yes hija that is how we thought of. but it was NGCP's power interruption but it is questionable why Robinson's place was spared of the blackout.

yes, and it was the national grid that announced the power disruption. it is almost every 2 weeks that we have this preventive maintenance. also, the reasons for the blackout are the same (changing of rotten poles).

Don't malls have generators of their own?

Of course the mall has generator. It is the rest of the city that will have power disruption and the mall will be spared of the blackout that is why many residents are complaining why "the mall has light but we will not have".

The reason is usually maintenance but we have other reasons too.

And to think I will say that people can go there at the mall when the blackout came. If it is purposely done, then it is not good. Good morning.

I think maybe just one person think about it and it goes viral. Even there's no power interruption most of the mall grand opening is full of people because definitely, the mall has a lot of treats.

I hope you read the comments of netizens and you will realize that many share the same sentiment. "Blackout? Go to Robinson 's place." The mall won't have power interruption. Yes since it's the grand opening always expect hundreds of people barging in
