EOD Earth Overshoot Day By definition, Earth overshoot day is a point within one year that all of Earth's natural resources have been exhausted. It would seem to take about 3 planet Earths to support life as we know it in the year 2018. We still have 5 more months to go but have already exceeded the capacity of the Earth's natural food resources to meet the demands of humans all over the globe. Wikipedia has more information for you to take a global look at below: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Overshoot_Day Get the scoop from this article and comment on this subject below this discussion.
This is the earliest Earth Overshoot Day has occurred since calculations began in 1971.

I've read about it yesterday that this year we have consumed the natural resources more than we normally should. It made me think actually what I can do to help but it seems that everything I do contribute to the consumption and not conserving it.

@lookatdesktop But some people are simply unaware. And I think awareness is the key to finding solutions.

It is all a product of our way of living but no one person is at fault, we as a species are all responsible for finding solutions to the new challenges facing us today.

They say it is the earliest it has ever happened. I do not know what the solution can be but with all my other stuff going on and wondering how everything will come together for me I cannot let this overwhelm me. What will be will be and in the meantime just have to keep on hoping.

I like your positive way of thinking. If more people thought about solutions than complaining about problems, maybe things would turn around for the better for the planet. But yea, personal issues are the more pressing and important to take care of. If we can first take care of our basic needs, a job, a place to live and food and shelter must be taken care of before thinking beyond our basic needs. We as Americans have this luxury and I hope you will find many good choices and not be overwhelmed by the doom and gloom of mainstream media. Most of it IS pretty NEGATIVE.

@lookatdesktop well if we all start making small or big contributions like cutting on some of our less needed shopping, walking more instead of using cars or bikes, rationalizing use of water, plant more trees etc, we can make a difference. The problem is many guys don't listen and say "Hey I care about damn and will just live my life".

I have to read up more about this but at the rate that we are abusing our planet, I'm not surprised.

I think you might like this article to read and learn from. I did and I enjoyed reading it.
You heat your home with fuel that generates carbon dioxide greenhouse gas. How much? Could it be you are maximizing its production?

This is worrying indeed. We all are guilty for this in big or small ways.
