Well, we are home

Dad is in the hospital, but it is skilled care, not so much illness. He is safe, he is cared for, and hubby and I left him in their capable hands. We decided to come on home. Once at home, we of course got the mail. I got a card back that I mailed to Patsie Hatley in April. Gold Crest did not forward it to her at Seal Beach. Post Office note said attempted to forward with no success. It makes me mad. The most current address we have for her is on my profile. There was another interesting piece of mail. It was one of those scams. I got a priority mail envelope, with a letter congratulating me on being chosen to do a mystery shop or evaluation of Wal Mart. I also got a one page form asking about courtesy and cleanliness. Here's the kicker: I got a check for $2850. This is how the scam works: You put the check in your bank. You draw on those funds to send Western Union or money orders from Wal Mart, being told to keep a small portion of the money as pay. The recipients cash the money orders/wires and take off. YOU are responsible to your bank when it is determined that the $2850 (or whatever) check is a fake. Do not even think about believing this, or doing this. It is a scam that can really cost you. In addition, it can make other checks you write for your personal needs bounce. The damage is almost never ending. I am taking it to our postmaster on Monday.

@marguicha He could at least let us know if she is well now. I have reason to think she does not like to stay there.

You can reach Patsie's son if you have a Facebook account, it is the only way. I sent him a message, but he did not reply for the moment.

I love myLotters for alerting others. Honestly, if such a thing had come to me, I might have believed in it. I am glad your father is being cared for and alright, and I am also feeling extremely concerned about Hatley.

I am glad to let you know about the scams. I will look into Patsie again. Dad needs to regain his strength to walk. Brother feels that they over exercised him and he is having to get over that.

I do not even open mails that I receive from strangers specially when money is offered to me. It is a daily feature almost. I just delete them

First I am glad that your Dad is in capable hands right now. Second, Hard to believe that someone would fall for that scam check. Third, I wish that Patsie's son would write something on FB.

That is a bit off from the nursing home. I would give them an ear bashing for that. Surely it costs nothing to redirect the mail. What meanies! As for the scam I would definitely inform the bank and the post master. What horrible people there are in the world eh!

My mail to Patsie was returned to me, too. How sad for her. It's important to know that nothing is free and to be smart enough to realize that.

I'm glad your dad is in capable hands. I'm sorry you got the card back you sent Patsie. I finally had the money to get a card for her and now with what you experienced, not a good idea if the Nursing Home isn't forwarding them. It's been a while since I got a 'check' in the mail. I never did do anything with those checks except throw them out. I'm glad you're taking it to your Post Office on Monday to alert them to the scam.
